A day-long U-12 Cricket Carnival was held in Jessore to mark 25 years of Test cricket in Bangladesh. The cricket festival was held at the Gymnasium under the management of Jessore District Sports Association under the auspices of the Bangladesh Cricket Board.
The U-12 Cricket Carnival was held in Sherpur to celebrate 25 years of Bangladesh Test cricket. Deputy Commissioner Tarafdar Mahmudur Rahman was the chief guest at the cricket carnival organised by the Bangladesh Cricket Board on Wednesday morning.
Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration and Finance) Md Shafiqul Islam, among others, spoke on the occasion. The function was addressed, among others, by AL Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif, Organising Secretaries Ahmad Hossain and Misbah Uddin Siraj and former Sylhet City Mayor Badar Uddin Ahmad Kamran with Moulvibazar district AL President Principal Md Abdus Shahid, MP, in the chair.
In the carnival competition, 40 children under the age of 12 from different educational institutions participated in four different teams named Padma, Meghna, Jamuna and Surma. In the competition, Padma team defeated Surma team and became the champion.
Later, each player was given a trophy along with a trophy. Parents and guardians of the players were also present.
The tournament was organised to create a festive atmosphere with the participation of U-12 cricketers. Six teams were formed with 48 selected people in Jessore with the names of the big six rivers of Bangladesh Jamuna, Cornfuli, Surma, Padma, Meghna and Buriganga. Six teams won the championship. Karnaphuli was the runner-up. In the final, both teams scored just 1 run each.
Batting first in the final, Jamuna scored 110 runs for the loss of three wickets in the stipulated six overs. Karnaphuli scored 109 runs in reply. In Jamuna’s batting innings, Abdullah scored 20 runs, Abdullah 30 not out, Sahan 40 not out and Nayeem seven not out. Nasum Ahmed and Mahedi Hasan took one wicket each. In Karnaphuli’s innings, Mahin scored 21, Tanmoy 30 not out and Tarif 12 not out. Jamuna took one wicket with the ball.
Padmanabhan was the highest run-scorer. He scored 86 runs. Surma’s Sadat took the highest number of wickets. He took four wickets. Jamunar Sahan was adjudged the best player of the final. He scored 40 runs off seven balls. He was also the best player of the tournament. He scored 102 runs and took two wickets.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC General) Nazibul Alam inaugurated the event as the chief guest. Nivas Halder, member of the ad-hoc committee of the district sports association, conducted the programme. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) district coach Azimul Haque Azim and former cricketer Asadullah Khan Biplob were also present on the occasion.
In the afternoon, the guests presented trophies to the champion and runner-up teams courtesy of MR Enterprises at the same venue. Former captain of Bangladesh U-19 team Shahriar Shakib, former executive member of district sports association Shamim Ejaz, Jessore age-based cricket team coach Gautam Dutta, Sanjay Dutta, Khulna divisional team wicketkeeper-batter Imranuzzaman, left-arm spinner Tipu Sultan were present among others.
12 teams will be formed in Sylhet for the Under-12 Cricket Carnival under the management of the Bangladesh Cricket Board. Those interested in participating in this cricket carnival in Sylhet will be able to participate in the tournament by taking part in the selection at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium at 3pm on Sunday (June 22). Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is all set to host an under-12 cricket carnival across the country to mark the completion of Bangladesh’s two-and-a-half decades in Test cricket. Six boys and six girls teams will take part in the cricket carnival.
Those interested in participating in this cricket carnival in Sylhet will have to take part in the selection at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium at 3pm on Sunday. Special coach of the BCB. Who. Mohammad Emon will conduct the selection process. Six teams will be formed for boys and six teams for girls.
The next day on July 23, they will take part in the day-long six-a-side tournament at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. Interested children should bring a photocopy of their birth certificate at the time of registration.
