Professor Muhammad Yunus is a Bangladeshi Nobel Prize-winning banker and economist. He is a professor of economics at Chittagong University. He is the originator of the concept of microcredit. Professor Yunus is the founder of Grameen Bank. Muhammad Yunus and his Grameen Bank won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2006. He is the first Indian to receive this award. Yunus has won several national and international awards, including the World Food Prize.

Outgoing German Ambassador Achim Troster paid a farewell call on Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus at the state guesthouse Jamuna in Dhaka on Wednesday. This is the last engagement of his four-year diplomatic career in Bangladesh.

The Alumni Association of German Universities in Bangladesh (AAGUB) organised the event at BRAC Centre in Dhaka.
The farewell reception of His Excellency Achim Troster, Ambassador of Germany, and the Eid reunion were celebrated together.

Ambassador Akhim Troster was the chief guest at the ceremony. She shared her experiences during her tenure in Bangladesh as well as her perspective on education, research and cultural exchange between Germany and Bangladesh.
The event was a unique get-together attended by alumni members, eminent academicians, researchers, professors and scientists from different parts of the country. The participants shared their experiences and expressed their determination to play a more active role in the future activities of the organisation.
At the end of the meeting, a reception and dinner were held. The event concluded in a cordial atmosphere.
Former prime minister and BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia has met outgoing German Ambassador to Bangladesh Achim Troster in Dhaka.
The German ambassador along with his wife came to BNP chairperson’s Gulshan residence at 8: 30pm on Friday (June 20).
He is a member of BNP’s National Standing Committee. Abdul Mannan, Md. BNP chairperson’s adviser Mahmudul Hasan and BNP deputy organising secretary Abdus Salam Azad were, among others, present at the press briefing.

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami chief Dr. German Ambassador to Bangladesh Achim Troster paid a courtesy call on Shafiqur Rahman. The meeting was held at the party’s central office in the capital’s Moghbazar from 11am to 1pm on Thursday.
